Men Who Bully Women

There is a headline news story in Australia today about a young woman who worked in a Melbourne cafe, quite literally bullied to death by her male colleagues. It sounds too trashy to be true but the facts are as tragically unpleasant as they are real. Not only is the suicide of this young woman a loss of her precious life but for her parents, now comes the eternal pain of never being able to share all those wonderful moments that they should have been able to share with their daughter. As for the four male perpetrators, the comment has already been made from the bench that they have shown remorse for their actions. But  neither remorse nor a puny cash fine can bring back a life lost and even if criminal sanctions were available, what good would they do? What puzzles me is how a group of men could turn like rabid dogs on one, young woman and yet somehow fail to take stock of the impact of their grossly abusive behaviours. It was philosopher, Hannah Arendt, who once commented that we all find it hard to reconcile that perfectly ordinary human beings can do the most extraordinarily evil things. That is the case here. A young woman is dead for no other reason than four seemingly intelligent, rational, privileged men, could and did indeed abuse her…

I am a woman too and 2 guys in my office always bully me. Just the two of them. Others treat me with respect. This 2 guys seem to get some fun on making me look stupid. One has to joke, the other’s job it to laugh or vice versa. And they don’t feel any shame doing it as long as someone laughs at the one who started the joke. And these are guys, aged 27 and 28 respectively. One topic they like discussing is my age, I am 40. They find it funny I am older, not aged. I always, tell them they would grow old too unless they die. But they don’t here me. They are sick. I don’t know if the other one is gay but he seem like following the other ones lead. Strange duo.

I think the word for those two guys is ‘jellybacks’. If one farts, does the other one shit?

gay men are always bullying women. i’ve been saying this for yearssssss. they are jealous and seem to forget that despite being gay they are still men and should respect women. i’ve had a gay guy try to hit me because i told him to stop pulling my hair when i was in hs. gay men seem to be indenial about their strength. they are still stronger than the average women and NO MAN GAY OR STRAIGHT SHOULD HIT OR BULLY WOMEN!

Some of the most homophobic people that I have ever met are gay men. So if (we) can turn our ‘own kind’ I would not be surprised that we can also turn on women, et al. Showering any particular group of people in assumptions of goodness is no less discriminatory than beating them with a stick and so, in that regard, the myth that gay men have some sort of magic anti-sexist wand thing-o going on is absolute crap. ‘Bitch’ is pretty poor code for ‘total arsehole’…

ive had it happen to at work too i always try my hardest to be very courteous of everyone and am somehow feel they have serious women issues. There is no reason for disrespect tell manager or find another job. I believe they had horrible absent mothers who didnt really love them and must hate women if they resort to disrespecting other women whatever age. Im 41 and had it happen through out my 30′s most gay men i ran into are not so nice. They can be very cruel and disrespectful.I think Its jealousy and I think its also that we are a threat especially if we are attractive. They dont want to acknowledge a secret attraction or jealous of us because we are beautiful creatures that are able to get men to do what probably they cannot which is commit stay faithful have children and spend lot of money on us. yea its jealousy.
