Bashing Men for High Fashion Stakes
It was reported in ‘The Star’ on 21 Jan 10 (see link, below) that whereas in some parts of the world male fashion does homeless, in other parts it does beaten up. Yup. Straight-acting, hypermasculine but also, according to this article, homoerotic. It would seem that men beating each other up is the new must-have behaviour. And any attempts to curb male enthusiasm for busted noses and swollen cheeks on the street corner, sports field or catwalk, for that matter, can be derided as merely do-gooder attempts at ‘pansification’. So, fashion is no longer veering toward the feminine but it is solidly homoerotic and while it pisses all over old-fashioned ‘gay’, it nonetheless encompasses rough and tough men of all sexualities. Which might explain, I guess, why women seem to be totally missing from this steel-capped world of violent men.
